Smiling faces and laughter . . . for us that's what its all about. Before we left for Bukavu I thought to myself, "The Congo sounds like a place I would never take my children. It doesn't sound like a very safe place to raise our kids." Wow . . . how one's opinion can change in a heartbeat. I remember one evening laying on the couch with the window open and hearing the laughter of the children as they played. This was the first time while in Bukavu that I realized, "You know what? This would be an awesome place to raise our children."
I look forward to the day when our children meet the "watoto" of Bukavu. Maddy and Olivia have both told us how excited they are to go to Africa, but are sad about having to leave friends behind. I told them both that once in Bukavu (hopefully!!!!), within minutes they will have more friends then they'll know what to do with!!!! Laura and I had children all over us and we are adults . . . I can just imagine what it will be like when they meet Maddy, Olivia and Judah. It will be an awesome day!!!!
