As the days go by we wait to hear from the Lord as to where He wants us to serve. Our hearts continue to ache for the people of Africa . . . and the Lord continues to prepare us as we journey to our destination overseas.
So what do you do during these times of waiting? Laura and I are both committed to learning Swahili. We have been trying to do a little bit everyday . . . with three kids and not much down time this leaves little time for language learning. What keeps us going is knowing how far ahead we will be in Africa if we can communicate with the locals!!!!! We feel this is such an important tool . . . since we saw first hand how tough it was in Bukavu to communicate with others, especially when a translator was hard to find.
We are also doing a lot of reading and research into the Central African nations such as DRC, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanazia, Zambia, Burundi and Zimbabwe. A majority of our research has gone into the Lord's Resistance Army and their use of child soldiers and the effects of genocide in such places as DRC and Rwanda. As we read the Lord continues to "fan the flame" so to speak. To think we are willing to give up all the Lord has blessed us with here in Canada to help those in need in Africa. God works in amazing and wonderful ways!!!!!
Right now we need one thing from you . . . your prayers!!!!!!! It's hard waiting but we continue to be patient. God has a place for us, and He has a time for us. Pray for us as we continue to develop God's calling on our lives.
God Bless You
