To Be Continued . . .

I started a series on protection last week.  I will continue in that direction tomorrow . . . as for today I want to post a "Thank You" letter I wrote this morning.  I've emailed to those of you whose addresses I have but  I felt I should post it as well for those of you who read our blog . . .

Hello Friends . . .

Here is a quick update on Laura . . .

She is slowly regaining energy and strength. She did pretty good yesterday as we were in Brandon for the day for her cast removal appointement and to do some shopping to replace the clothing she lost in the accident.

The cast is off!!!!! That's the good news . . . the not so good news is x-rays revealed that her tendons in the thumb are all torn, meaning it will take time for them to heal. If they don't heal she may require surgery to repair the thumb . . . we are believing it will be healed!!!! Right now she can't use her thumb at all which makes it hard to perform many tasks using that hand. Yesterday at supper we had a good laugh as she tried to use a fork . . . it was definitely a struggle!!!!

She begins physio tonight on her shoulder. She is going to the same physio therapist she saw in her last accident 8 years ago. He did a really great job so were hoping for the same results again . . .

I mentioned she had an accident 8 years ago . . . for those of you who don't know this, Laura and Maddy were in a collision at an unmarked intersection on a country road just outside of Boissevain (20 minutes from Killarney.) They were fortunate to walk away from the accident . . . another accident the RCMP could not believe no one was killed. In both accidents they figured she was within a split second of losing her life . . . pretty crazy. Unfortunately there was one death in that accident . . . at the time Laura was just over eight months pregnant . . . the baby did not survive and she ended up giving birth to our stillborn son Levi. That was 8 years ago . . . so we've decided in 2018 she will stay out of any sort of moving veichle!!!!!

This most recent accident has brought up some memories of the past one . . . but Laura and I are in a "way better position" to deal with this one!!!! Amazingly she is sleeping well with no memories of these accidents haunting her. She knows she is fortunate and blessed to still be here and there's no sense in worrying about what could of been. She is definitely moving on and enjoying being home with her family.

Thank you so much for everything . . . your encouragement . . . prayers . . . and for loving us so completely. No matter where you are . . . you are our friends and we appreciate you more than you will ever know.

Blessings,

Joel & Laura
